About the product
Hammerite Direct to Rust Enamel is the benchmark anti-rust enamel for painting iron and steel without primer and without the need to remove all rust. Its Dual Tech technology seals the surface and prevents moisture from entering, stopping the corrosion process and leaving a decorative finish resistant to weathering and impacts.
A single product acts as a primer, anti-rust base coat, and decorative finish. It is applied directly to firm rust: no previous coat, no complete stripping, and with fewer coats of work than a traditional red lead + enamel system.
Main features
- ✔ Direct application on iron and steel, also on firm rust.
- ✔ Dual Tech technology: blocks moisture and slows down oxidation.
- ✔ No prior priming needed.
- ✔ Fast drying and recoating on the same day.
- ✔ High resistance to impacts and weathering: does not flake.
- ✔ Suitable for brush, roller, and spray gun.
Where to apply it
Fences and windows, railings and balconies, metal doors and gates, fences, garden furniture, structures and locksmith elements outdoors. Anything exposed to the elements and needing durable anti-corrosion protection with a decorative finish.
How to use
➜ 1. Preparation. Sand smooth surfaces and remove loose rust particles and old paint with a wire brush. Remove grease, dust, and dirt, and leave the surface completely dry.
➜ 2. Tools. Brush for small or intricately shaped parts; roller for large, flat surfaces (in both cases, without thinning). With a spray gun, apply 4 coats, leaving 1 hour between coats, and thin with Hammerite Solvent if necessary.
➜ 3. Application. Stir the container lightly. Apply a first coat, thoroughly covering edges and corners, and a second coat 4 hours later. A minimum thickness of 100 microns (0.1 mm) is recommended, equivalent to 2 or 3 coats.
➜ 4. Heavily rusted surfaces. If rust spots appear after the first coat, treat those areas with Hammerite Superia and then apply two even coats over the entire surface.
