High-build Facade Coatings

Facade coatings regularize the substrate, seal cracks, waterproof against rain, and allow the wall to breathe. Compared to conventional paint, they provide a film thickness several times greater and a significantly longer outdoor lifespan.

Types of coatings and when to use each one
The golden rule for facades: impervious to rainwater, but permeable to water vapor. A product that completely seals the wall traps moisture inside, eventually leading to blisters and detachments.
Type Strong Point Suitable for
Acrylic Good value for money and wide color palette Facades in good condition, moderate climate
Elastic anti-crack Bridges cracks and accommodates substrate movement Facades with shrinkage or expansion cracking
Siloxane Maximum breathability with high water repellency Rainy areas, coast, walls with moisture
Mineral silicate Chemically bonds to the substrate, very durable Renovation, historic buildings, mineral substrate
Stone / textured High thickness, conceals wall imperfections Irregular facades or with visible repairs
How to apply correctly
  • 1 → Clean the facade with a pressure washer and remove poorly adhered residues, mold, or efflorescence.
  • 2 → Repair cracks and chips, and allow the mortar to set completely.
  • 3 → Apply a penetrating primer, essential for porous or powdery substrates.
  • 4 → Apply two cross coats, respecting the recoating time specified in the technical data sheet.
  • 5 → Avoid painting in direct sunlight, strong wind, risk of rain, or below 5 °C.
Consumption and material planning
  • Typical coverage: 2–4 m² per liter per coat, depending on roughness and type.
  • Always calculate for two coats and add a 10% margin.
  • Purchase all material from the same batch to avoid tone differences.
  • For large surfaces, an airless sprayer drastically reduces work time.
Before and after coating: prepare the substrate with primers and sealers, solve the origin of moisture with damp proofing treatments, consult the ETICS system if you are going to insulate, and check out airless sprayers for application. Questions? WhatsApp +34 621 20 71 54.
